three – My 1st ever BK

Burger King – SG6 1UP

Old Nerd Reviews, Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ls0usXk9wdQ

Honestly, even with my vast burger knowledge, living in the U.K. and driving past Burger King (or BK as it’s known on the street) on countless occasions. Surprisingly I had never eaten at one of their branches in my life!                                    I have mentioned before that I am risking my life for the fans of this blog; the following review is a clear example of the life-changing experience that is about to occur.

I drove to this Burger King at about 7.30pm after a busy day of working and running errands, it was important that I found a valuable and quick meal that did the job for my appetite. I was struck by the appearance of the restaurant, it was old and seemed as if the restaurant had not received refurbishment in over 20 years, it felt as if I had stepped back in time and was standing outside an old fashioned American diner on Route 66. Furthermore, my first impression was correct as everything inside the Burger King seemed outdated. The white walls and lighting made me feel that I was in a doctor’s surgery, there were brightly coloured seats and a menu styled as you would expect from large burger franchise – Images of items that raise your expectation of the product however your dreams get shattered when you see the burger in person.

Moreover, after scanning the products on display, I ordered the regular King Fish meal which came to £5.79. The meal came in under 5 minutes which was delightful, a big plus point for me was that Burger King offered complimentary mayonnaise with their food unlike McDonald’s.

The burger was a reasonable sized burger, the burger was unique in the fact that instead of a fish patty, there was 3 fish fingers stacked with lettuce and sauce spread on 2 sesame seeded soft buns. The burger was piping hot, fitting and tasted good. The best part of the burger was the sauce, it was a mixture of mayonnaise and tartar sauce which gave the sauce a tangy and smooth texture. The burger bun was soft, however didn’t give me a wow factor, it felt much like a standard frozen bun which gave me flashbacks of Friday school dinners. The fries were decent sized, well cooked and fluffy; however, the portion size was not justifiable to be a regular sized portion of fries, they were a child’s portion at best. As was expected, the drink had more ice than fluid, something which I have become accustomed to over the years of having my fair share of big food brands, therefore Burger King failed to disappoint.

To summarise, my first Burger King or BK did the job as was expected, the meal did not disappoint and did not wow me, it had elements that were outstanding such as the sauce inside the burger. Would I come here again? If there were no other options available, I would digest a King Fish meal and not be disappointed, however the interior and shop front was vile.
