Steakout – LU1 2QH

Steakout was recommended through family members, so let us see if members of my family had similar high burger standards even though I highly doubt it. Steakout was originally established in 2008 and had 10 restaurants spread out across the U.K. Moreover, the location of this restaurant was not located centrally and took quite a while to reach our destination, this Steakout’s location was on a side street in the town which has 2 meaning’s. The food is either incredible or a disaster.

At first glance, the restaurant seemed well decorated. The outside was well lit with elements of black and brown, a common theme to the majority of steak house styled restaurants across the country. Furthermore, the interior had a good array of lighting and large parts of the restaurant had wooden pieces which gave a good feel to the restaurant. This Steakout was decorated with cowhide rugs and a large led sign of a steak. Revolutionary in my opinion and well decorated, however not a design for the Vegan or Hindu community for obvious reasons.

My company and I were taken to a secluded and intimate round table with a range of standard sauces such as ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise, unfortunately the table and seating was unclean which showed the staff to be more reactive than pro-active and a lack of work ethic and therefore being lazy. The menu was incredibly confusing, it ranged from different types of meat, seafood, burgers, appetisers, sides, add-ons and that was only the first page of this encyclopaedia. In the end after much confusion, I chose a £5.95 Signature Chicken Burger with an extra £2.95 for a portion of fries which came to a total of £8.54 as I opted for tap water with my food.

The food arrived after 25 minutes which felt a little longer than expected. The burger consisted of a spicy chicken filet, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, Monterey jack cheese which was fitted inside a seeded brioche bun. Honestly, this was one of the worst burgers I have had in my life. The patty was dry, had zero flavour and smaller than the palm of my hand. The extras inside and burger bun tasted outdated and had no texture, the worst part was they forgot to put sauce in my burger! Even after such a painful excuse and experience of a burger is there even any point in reviewing the fries? I highly doubt you would travel to a steak house just to savour fries.

In summary, the exterior, interior and environment of Steakout was excellent, however  the taste of food was a shamble and a feeble attempt of a burger. Would I come here again? Absolutely and categorically never, very unlikely given how poor the experience was.
