KFC – LU4 8EZ and Drive-Thru Competition

I have reviewed McDonald’s and Burger King; therefore, it seems fitting to review a KFC also. As well as KFC, I will be comparing a McDonald’s and KFC Drive-Thru to observe which one of the 2 franchises can give my meal quicker.    I arrived at the KFC and was pleasantly surprised that the brand has aimed to change the overall design with more wooden elements along with the splashes of red and white to give the restaurants a comfort food element. I ordered the Zinger Stacker Meal which came to a total of £6.19. I donated the fries to my younger brother as this was the only way to keep him quiet during my review, unfortunately he did not share a single chip with me, so I have no comment to make on the fries, quite literally.                                                                        The Zinger Stacker burger was a decent size and consisted of 2 Zinger patties sandwiched between a slice of cheese and served with Supercharger, Sweet chili sauce and a sesame seeded bun. The meal took a long 15 minutes to arrive, however the taste was worth the wait as the patty had a crispy skin which was accompanied beautifully by a soft and spicy chicken breast. The Supercharger sauce was superb, tangy and creamy which reminded me of a spicy mayonnaise sauce that I can only buy when I visit Belgium. The bun was soft and tasted better with the sesame seeds. Furthermore, I was not a fan of the Sweet chili sauce. There was no reason in particular, I just wasn’t a fan.                                                                        Overall, it was an enjoyable experience to savour this burger as the double patty along with the Supercharger sauce made the burger tasty with an almost rich texture. Would I come here again? Very likely as the burger was excellent, however I would not bring my brother so I could eat a full meal and next time I would ask for the burger only to have Supercharger sauce inside.

Drive-Thru Competition

McDonald’s

Entered Drive Thru: 7.02pm

Ordered Meal: 7.09pm

Payed at Bay 1: 7.15pm

Collected Food: 7.29pm

Total Time: 27 minutes

KFC

Entered Drive Thru: 8.08pm

Ordered Meal: 8.15pm

Payed at Bay 1: 8.24pm

Collected Food: 8.40pm

Total Time: 32 minutes

The winner was McDonald’s, however there were a number of contributing factors such as the KFC was busier at the time of entering the Drive-Thru, furthermore it appeared as if there were more staff operating in the McDonald’s. I believe that the system of ordering before collecting your meal is the best form of operations in a restaurant to receive your meal as quickly as possible. It is clear that Drive-Thru’s have become increasingly in demand with examples of Starbucks showing how effective they can be.
